The core feature of BU Freedom Wall is anonymity. We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information to view or submit posts.

However, to prevent spam and abuse, we automatically collect limited technical data when you interact with the site, including:

  • Device and Log Data: Your IP address is temporarily processed in memory to enforce rate limits (30-second cooldowns) and provide security, but it is never permanently stored in our database alongside your posts.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, links clicked, and features used (e.g., upvoting or sorting).

2. How We Use Your Information

The technical information we collect is used strictly for the following purposes:

  • To ensure the platform operates smoothly and securely.
  • To moderate content, enforce our Community Guidelines, and prevent spam, bot attacks, and abuse using Cloudflare Turnstile CAPTCHA and strict IP rate limiting.
  • To analyze aggregated, non-identifiable usage trends to improve the user experience.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties. We may only disclose your technical data if required to do so by law, court order, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or investigate fraud or severe violations of our Community Guidelines.

4. Cookies and Tracking

BU Freedom Wall uses essential cookies and local storage (such as remembering if you have already upvoted a post) to provide core functionality. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for targeted advertising.

5. Third-Party Services

Our platform is hosted on Vercel and utilizes Supabase for database management. These services may process technical data (like IP addresses) as part of their standard infrastructure operations in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
